Grand Prix of Mosport to be a Summer Favorite

In two weeks, Ontario, Canada will host the Grand Prix of Mosport at the Mosport International Raceway. The race will have race teams from over 15 countries and will feature the American Le Mans Series on July 21- 24. This will be the only race in Canada that the American Le Mans Series will take part in.

The ALMS is the leader in green racing, or environmentally efficient racing, and touts higher end manufacturers than any of the other associations. Some of the manufacturers include, BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, and Jaguar. These cars are built for speed as well as looks as they have custom wheels and the best possible racing tires.

For the past three years Michelin has sponsored the Green X Challenge which is a competition that rewards the Series teams for environmental impact and overall performance at each sponsored event. The competition runs throughout the season and points are awarded for clean, fast, and efficient race teams as well as manufacturers.

The race will be four days long and will feature all types of races as well as things to do off the track. There will be autograph sessions, Driver talks, Tech how to’s, vendors who will sell race related merchandise as well as the Open Grid Walk, which allows fans to get up close with the drivers and racing teams right before the start of the race.

Tickets are rather inexpensive and are $70 for a four day pass until July 20. Children under the age of 12 get in free with the purchase of an adult ticket. There are facilities available to camp at the raceway for those who do not want to rent a hotel or would just like to be close to the event. This race will be one of the more exciting races of the summer and it will be in beautiful Ontario. With so much hype about the race, it is bound to be one of the highlights of the summer.

Nike Victory with Federer at the US Tennis Open

Roger Federer’s US Open tennis outfit will be the Victory Clothing Collection by Nike. This is a very traditional, but yet flashy selection that he will wear during the last Grand Slam of the year.

Nike’s Federer Victory Court Polo is a short sleeved plain jersey polo shirt. It is designed to be put with the Federer Victory Court Shorts and some accessories. Nike has crafted the clothes to include sonic-welded seams right along the shoulders, arms and sides, which reduces the occurrence of chafing and increases comfort when in action. The shirt screams breathability with its pleated back yoke and 4cm side vents. There is a hidden 4-button Bemis placket and set-in sleeves with turn back cuffs. The Nike Swoosh trademark is located on the left sleeve and Federer’s initials ‘RF’ logo is at the left chest.

For the bottom half, the Victory Woven Shorts are 10″ long Dri-FIT herringbone-broken twill fabric with an internal draw cord and an elastic waistband for a custom fit and absolute comfort. The front slash pockets have enough room for tennis balls and even for some small items while he’s playing on the tennis courts. The back welt pocket zippers so he will be able to store personal belongings safely. Breathability has been improved upon by Nike with the placement of a mesh gusset. The faux fly provides style and the Nike Woven Court Label is placed on the right pocket along with the Swoosh design embroidered at the left hem of the shorts.

Federer will be stunning on the tennis courts as well as off the courts.

Long History of Boston Celtics Rivalry with the Lakers

One of the main things on the minds of most Bostonians these days is the NBA finals, which are currently in progress and as of tonight are one game into it. Much to New Englanders’ displeasure the Celtics lost the first of the two that are scheduled to be played in Los Angeles and the Lakers have taken a one win lead in the series. This is no standard NBA finals series as the Celtics and the Lakers rivalry is long standing and they are two of the most prestigious team dynasties in the league. Both of the teams have star players on the roster and have seen their share of championship seasons. The competition between the two teams and their star players extends decades and this latest series should be a dynamic athletic spectacle. At this point the Celtics have won more championship titles than the Lakers and they intend to widen the gap.

In addition the fans of the Celtics extend throughout the entire New England region and while Los Angeles is big, there are only pockets of Lakers fans outside of the city and many of the fans of other teams in the conference are specifically and enthusiastically routing for the Celtics. But of course that is a natural consequence of greatness, and the Lakers definitely have at least one great player. But we’re talking about the Celtics and the tremendous support for their professional sports teams the city, state and region displays. And most of the tourists who happen to be staying in a Boston hotel are likely routing for the Celtics. The Lakers are going to have a difficult time taking any of the three games that are coming to Boston next week.

Magic Johnson and Larry Bird are two great names in basketball and they were the main features in the old school rivalry between clubs. Larry Bird was drafted by the Celtics in 1978 and played out the entire length of his career with the team. He is one of those rare birds, yes pun intended, that landed and remained with the same team throughout his career. Relatively speaking Bird had a short career, which lasted only 13 seasons and this was due primarily to extreme back issues. In 1996 Bird was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He served as head coach for the Indiana Pacers from 1997 until 2000.

Respite in Fort Collins

I had a slow boarding experience in New Zealand, so I was very keen to find a mountain with tons and tons of snow on it. A mountain I could slide down while making a loud Woo-Who noise! So, for holiday I headed to Colorado Springs, Colorado in the US. My mission was to organize my transport up to visit with a friend who lives in Fort Collins. I was hoping to stay with them, but they already had guests staying with them; something about brother-in-law being out of work. So my friends recommended I stay at a hotel Fort Collins is known for, which they would make the reservations for me.

I took the Greyhound bus from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins and boy, it did not disappoint, from the lady I was sitting next to who was a trucker and told me continuous trucking stories that were pretty interesting, to the guy sitting across the way, who was this large Texan that was totally drunk and belched all the way. Every single person on the bus was a freaking total character, some scary and some funny.

After spending a couple of days hanging out in Fort Collins and catching up with my friends, we all went down to Denver to watch a bicycle race around the Bronco’s Football stadium. My friend looked for any excuse to get out of their house and to get away from their unemployed brother-in-law. I told them that it’s great how family can be there to help family out of a rough spot. They just smiled and said ‘yeah, right.’

After Denver, we all headed to Copper Mountain for my snow-boarding fix. I had a few excellent days of boarding with my friends. The snow was a bit wet, being spring, but I didn’t let that stop me from working on my jumps and half pipes. I was doing my half-pipes without a helmet, with is pretty reckless.

On our way back to Fort Collins, I had a week of exploring the sights. I really liked Horsetooth Mountain Park , it was really beautiful, I even saw a few deer. I’m really glad I was staying a hotel, because after spending a few nights over at my friends house for dinner, I could see why they wanted to get out of the house so bad. The brother-in-law situation was pretty dire. Glad I could give my friends a respite, if only for a few days.

New Orleans Saints Win Super Bowl

Last week my friends Bill, John, Steve, Troy and I all watched the Super Bowl together so I guess without question you could say we had a great Super Bowl party. And do you want to know the interesting aspect of it? I was the only female there, and I bet you were thinking I was a guy right? It turns out I’m just one of those females who happens to really love football and having been born in New Orleans, and I lived there until I was sixteen, the Saints are absolutely my favorite team. I’ve loved and supported them through thick and thin, and let’s face it it’s been mostly thin for, oh well, forever. Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but you know what I mean.

Oh, and in addition to being a sports lover I also tend to have my closest friends be men. So, I’m one of those females too. I get along with other women and actually my best friend in the world is a female, though she does not enjoy sports and she is definitely not into football. I’ve known those guys for over six years. When I was at school Troy and Bill and I had the same astronomy class and we ended up being lab partners. We had a lot of fun and the two of them were already friends but we all just sort of became close during the length of that otherwise tedious class. And the others were already friends with the two of them so I met them the first night we actually hung out outside of class.

The other interesting thing about the Super Bowl party is that everyone except Steve was routing for the Saints. No one, other than I, had a personally invested interest in the game though Steve is actually a semi Colts fan. I don’t know how you can be a semi fan of anything, though that’s what he claims. The other guys weren’t exactly, or even semi, Saints fans though they were happy to see them finally win the Super Bowl. It was a good party though part of me still wishes I had reserved a room in one of the New Orleans hotels and flew out for the game. Oh well, I guess you can’t have everything. And in a room full of guys I was not only the only female I was also the only one who was passionately invested in the game. It’s good to be a girl.

Here you are making vacation plans and there are so many, many options. How do you begin, maybe someone has told you about a place they have been, maybe you’ve read about it or seen ads on television, or maybe it’s someplace you’ve always known about and imagined yourself going if you got the chance. Maybe that place is New York City, New York. What a place to imagine yourself to be in. Make it happen. This is one place you definitely will enjoy and remember forever.

Are you a sports fan? What about catching a Yankee’s game? Or if you like football, you can catch the Jets? Are you a lover of the theatre, well could you select a better place than New York for the theatre? Walk down Broadway, soak up the theatrical atmosphere, feel the electricity in the air, catch the energy generated by this environment, feel the passion and the love the actors have for this art. Embrace the performances as the actors give their all every show. There is so much history here, so many historic landmarks to visit and ponder over. Visit Ground Zero and reflect on the sacrifices and the terrible injustices of 911. Be moved.

Get out and enjoy the incredible nightlife, the music, the dancing and the free spirits. Let yourself be caught up in the excitement of the people there for the same reason as you. Embrace the many cultural events and activities, the colorful dress, the foods. Pamper yourself, and what better way than checking into an elegant New York USA hotel and let yourself be spoiled by the friendly, attentive staff. Partake of the many amenities offered, this is the time to let your hair down, let your stresses melt away. New York is the city that will make all your senses come to the surface, make you feel alive, feel vibrant, and yes, feel sad when you have to leave. But you can always go back.
