Washington DC is popular with tourists throughout the year, though the summer season sees a tremendous amount of visitors. This is partially because it is the typical vacation season and Washington is always among the top choices of places to visit. Regardless of political orientation or one’s immediate satisfaction with the government, the nation’s capital is always respected and attractive to US residents. It’s also true that DC is one of the popular tourist destinations for visitors from around the world and there are many landmarks and cultural attractions that entice them.
One of the great cultural attraction options are the events and performances that take place at the Kennedy Center throughout the year, and this is especially true during the summer months. Organizations such as the National Symphony Orchestra present incredible concerts and some of these are nationally televised. Some of the performances scheduled for this summer include Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story and More at the Filene Center. This incredible concert will feature works by Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Gound and Bernstein and will include performances by members of the Wolf Trap Opera Company.
Other summer concerts will include the NSO Pops: Classical Mystery Tour . As you can imagine, this Beatles themed event presents a concert that reflects what would happen if the Beatles performed with a symphony orchestra. The result is amazing and the concert will be conducted by Martin Herman. Violinist Jennifer Koh will be performing under the direction of conductor Juraj Valcuha. This concert will be composed of Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto 1 and Mahler’s Symphony 1. And while most of the guests at one of the five star hotels Washington DC will be visiting the White House and Capital Hill during the day, a great concert from National Orchestra is one of the best ways to spend an evening.
